On 24 September 2021, Steen Ethelberg, Professor in Infectious Disease Epidemiology with special focus on surveillance, outbreaks and disease burden, held his inaugural lecture "Foodborne infections and outbreaks - in Denmark and beyond".
About the lecture: Diarrheal diseases transmitted via food still pose a major public health problem in both low and high income countries. I’ll tell the public health story of a few important foodborne bacterial infections, Salmonella, Campylobacter and Listeria, with a focus on their epidemiology, major outbreaks and recent progress in managing the infections in Denmark.
